Doctors

Dr. Tom MacMillan, OD Dr. MacMillan was born in Huntsville Alabama. He and his wife Ginger were high school sweethearts. Dr. MacMillan graduated from Huntingdon College in Montgomery Alabama. He then attended the University of Alabama School of Optometry in Birmingham graduating in 1993. Dr. MacMillan purchased the practice in Clinton in the fall of 1993. Ginger and Dr. MacMillan have 3 children, Austin, Isaac and Carley. He resides in Clinton and is a very active member of First Baptist Church of Clinton. He serves as a deacon and a Sunday School Teacher. Dr. MacMillan is a member of the Lions club and the Exchange Club. In addition to his busy practice, Dr. MacMillan provides no cost eye exams and glasses to residents of Miracle Hill Mission in Spartanburg and the Good Shepards Clinic in Clinton. All of his offices collect used eyeglasses that he distributes to third world countries during his annual mission trips all across the world. In his spare-time Dr. MacMillan enjoys camping and hiking with his family, and racquetball. It is Dr. MacMillanÕs goal to treat as everyone as family. By delivering the best possible care along with the best products, MacMillan Optical strives to provide each patient with excellent service, ensuring a truly fantastic experience in each of the four locations.

Dr. Jeremy Anderson, ODDr. Jeremy Anderson, OD Dr. Anderson joined Spartanburg Vision as a new associate in 2004. He earned his Bachelor of Science at the College of Charleston in South Carolina and his Doctorate of Optometry at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis , TN. He is a member in good standing of both the American Optometric Association and the South Carolina Optometric Association. Dr. Anderson grew up in Spartanburg and is very happy to be practicing in his hometown. He enjoys outdoor recreation and loves taking weekend trips to the mountains or the beach. He has two adorable children: an orange tabby named Oliver and a grey tabby named Alec. Dr. Anderson is an active members of Jesus Our Risen Savior Catholic Church.

Mindi Purgason, CPOT Office Manager Spartanburg Vision: West Mindi is a native South Carolinian who grew up in Conway (Near Myrtle Beach) , and has lived in Spartanburg since 1988. After graduating from Boiling Springs High School, she continued her education at the University of South Carolina @ Spartanburg. After earning her Bachelors of Arts degree in 1994, she began working in Customer Service for several years here in the upstate. She accepted the position with Dr. MacMillan in February of 2002. Mindi has completed the third and final level of the AOAÕs national paraoptometric certification program and has earned the title of Certified Paraoptometric Technician (CPOT). As of July 2007, Mind was one of only 7 CPOT's in the state of South Carolina. Mindi is married to Philip and they have two children, Austin and Carolina, and a poodle, Lil' Mini Cooper. She enjoys computers, reading, and shopping.

Janet Owings, Accounts Manager Spartanburg Vision: West Janet joined the staff of MacMillan Optical in March of 2007. With a background in finance she has been an excellent addition to the staff. Janet is a native of Woodruff, where she and her husband have raised three sons, T.A, Kyle and Ryan. Much of JanetÕs free time is spent with her family, including her granddaughter Abagail, whom she adores. The Owings family is very active with Woodruff Youth Recreation Association Little Baseball. Terry, Kyle and Ryan can been seen on the baseball field as coaches every season. Janet is always there to keep everything organized and even though her own boys are grown, is usually chosen to be ŌTeam MomĶ. Janet enjoys dancing, camping and spending time with her family.

Christy Sparks, Optical Assistant, Spartanburg Vision: West Christy has been a member of the MacMillan Optical staff since October of 2006. She is the mother of two young children, which keep her busy most of the time.

Caroline Riggins , CPO Office Manager: Family Eye Care Center: Laurens Caroline joined MacMillan Optical in 2005. She started working at Spartanburg Vision West as a technician, and then was promoted to Office Manager of the Laurens office 2006. Caroline holds an Associate degree in Medical Secretary of Sciences from Spartanburg Community College. She has also completed the first level of the AOAÕs national paraoptometric certification program. Caroline enjoys volunteering with Dr. MacMillan at the Miracle Hill Mission in Spartanburg and Good Shepard in Clinton.

Mr. Bill Brown, Licensed Optician Mr. Bill Brown began in the optical field while in the Navy during WWII. He has held numerous jobs relating to the optical industry over the years. Mr. Brown opened Brown Opticians in 1967 and continued to own it until the early 90's. He continues to work with us two days a week, even though he has attempted to retire several times!

Todd Gary: Optometric Technician/Office Assistant: Family Eye Care Center: Laurens Todd began working for Dr. MacMillan in 2007. He has been married for fifteen years, and has 2 very wonderful children. He spends most of his free time at his church, The River Worship Center, where he is involved in the childrenÕs ministry. He enjoys spending time with his wife and kids. Todd has a background in sales, customer service and office administration. He has learned a lot of new and exciting things in the field of optometry since joining the staff in late 2007, and is looking forward to continuing to grow in the field.

Lisa Douglas: Optometric Technician/Office Assistant: Family Eye Care Center: Laurens Lisa is a native of Clinton. She began working for MacMillan Optical in February of 2007 at the Clinton location. She has since become a full time member of the Laurens staff. Lisa has been married for thirteen years, and has 2 very active boys. She enjoys scrap-booking and spending time with her large family. Lisa and her children are very involved in the drama ministry at church. She also enjoys spending the occasional night out with her co-workers at the Laurens office. LisaÕs background is in sales and customer service.

Kathie Wright: Lead Technician - Spartanburg Vision West Kathie has worked in the optical field since the early 1990's and for Dr. MacMillan the majority of that time. She is married with no children and no pets. She loves college football and traveling. We tell her that she only works to support her habit: shopping! Kathie works at both our Spartanburg Vision East and West Offices. A native of Spartanburg, she now resides at Lake Bowen.

Nikki Bennett, CPOT Office Manager - Spartanburg Vision: East Nikki attended Broome High School and graduated in 1996. She then attended Spartanburg Technical College and graduated with a degree in Business Management in 1998. Nikki joined our staff in February 2002. She is married and enjoys spending time with her husband and nephews.

Kim Cauble, CPO Office Manager - Clinton Office Kim joined Dr. MacMillan's staff in 2000. She too has completed the Ophthalmic Assistant course that is offered at Greenville Tech. Kim is married and has 2 very active boys. She enjoys watching her boys ride motorcycles on the weekends and is very involved in her local church.
